2 NPA rebels nabbed in Ifugao

La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines – Two suspected New People’s Army rebels were arrested in Ifugao last week. 

John Lee Hondrado, 24, alias Ka Hernan, and Justine Aquino, 24, alias Macoy, were collared at a police checkpoint in Sitio Tiiwan in Barangay Poblacion in Hungduan town.

A caliber .45 pistol,  a 9mm, ammunition, binoculars, a knife, P1,700 in cash, a pocket Wi-Fi, mobile phones, assorted SIM cards and subversive documents were among those recovered from the rebels.

Meanwhile, the military reiterated its call to the NPA to show its sincerity in resuming peace negotiations by stopping their terrorist activities.

Col. Edgard Arevalo, Armed Forces of the Philippines public affairs office chief, cited recent incidents of burning as well as harassment and attacks on civilian communities by rebel groups.
