Typhoon Igme leaves Philippine Area of Responsibility
MANILA, Philippines (Philippines News Agency) – Typhoon Igme (international name: Chaba) exited the Philippine Area of Responsibilty (PAR) Monday afternoon and is heading towards Japan.
According to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weatherman JC Sugui, Igme crossed the PAR border at around 2:45 p.m.
Igme packed maximum sustained winds of up to 175 kph near its center and gustiness of up to 215 kph, he noted.
He said "Igme" moved north-northwestwards at 20 kph.
PAGASA forecast "Igme" to be some 960 km north-northeast of Batanes province's capital Basco on Tuesday -- already well outside PAR, he added.
At 10 a.m., PAGASA said the eye of the typhoon was traced 700 kilometers also north east of Basco, Batanes. – PNA/Catherine Teves with a report from Philstar.com/Rosette Adel
