ZAMBOANGA CITY — An unidentified bomb exploded Wednesday night near the house of Basilan Gov. Jum Akbar in Isabela City.
Police Sr. Supt. Oscar Nantes, Basilan provincial police director, said no one was reported hurt from the blast that occurred around 9:05 p.m. in front of gate 1 of the compound of Akbar at Purok 1 Rubber Farm, Barangay Sumagdang.
The blast caused a small crater on the ground. Nantes said that police and military explosive ordnance units could not identify the type of bomb used in the explosion.
But he said that it might be caused by a dynamite that was accidentally dropped by a passerby.
Nantes said Akbar believes that the explosion was not politically related.
