2 rebels killed in clash

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Two suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were killed while two Army soldiers were wounded in an encounter in Hinobaan, Negros Occidental yesterday.

Col. Francis Delfin, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, said his men were conducting bayanihan team activities in Sitio Bugtong Lubi in Barangay Damutan when around 12 rebels attacked them at 7:40 a.m.

Government troopers recovered a baby armalite at the scene.

The encounter occurred 12 hours after 50 NPA rebels attacked Hacienda Jamandre in La Castellana town.
