Pangasinan town police chief probed for inmate’s death

SUAL, Pangasinan, Philippines  – This town’s police chief and his two men are facing investigation over the death of a detainee who reportedly hanged himself on Wednesday morning. 

Senior Inspector Leo Llamas, Police Officer 3 Dator Osana and PO1 Brent Fernandez are being probed for the death of Eduardo Quiriones, 19, according to Superintendent Ferdinand de Asis, spokesperson for the provincial police.

Llamas told The STAR he is open to any investigation and had conducted his own independent probe.

Osana and Fernandez were the investigator and desk officer on duty when Quiriones was found hanging in his cell.

Quiriones was declared dead on arrival at the Western Pangasinan District Hospital in Alaminos City.

The inmate was arrested on Nov. 2 for rape.

Provincial police officer-in-charge Senior Superintendent Rolie Saltat ordered Llamas and his men probed for the incident.
