3 dead in Tagaytay road mishap

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Three persons died while three others were injured when their car was rammed by a bus in Tagaytay City, Cavite yesterday morning.

Car driver John David Salvajeno, 31; Ericka Liberato and Mark James Tanchoco, 19, died while being treated at the Ospital ng Tagaytay, according to case investigator Police Officer 1 Jayson Olivar.

Taken to the same hospital for treatment were Russel Conge, 30; his wife Shella, and Andrew Duque, 31.
Reports said that the victims, who were in a Toyota Avanza (YS-5876), were about to turn left at a crossing in Barangay Mendez when they were hit by a DLTB passenger bus (UYB-812) driven by Mark Anthony Magsino at around 4:30 a.m.

Both vehicles were headed for Batangas.

Magsino surrendered to the police after the accident. None of his passengers was hurt.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple homicide, physical injuries and damage to property was filed against Magsino yesterday.

Meanwhile, in Iloilo, three men died when their motorcycle slammed into a truck in Dingle town shortly after midnight on Friday.

Raymond Macesar and his passengers Aldrin Palabrica and Arvin Sobrevega died at the scene, according to town police chief Senior Inspector Ramon Coriana Jr.

Reports said the victims were riding a motorcycle on their way home from the town proper when they slammed into a truck parked along the roadside in Barangay Tabugon.

“We couldn’t say if they were under the influence of liquor, but they were said to have come from a fiesta,” Coriana said. – With Jennifer Rendon
