Slain dancer’s belongings found in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police found in Cavite the personal belongings of a member of a male dance group who was shot dead in Rizal province last month.

A witness led authorities to a grassy area in Barangay Sampaloc, Dasmariñas City, where the belongings of Marcelo de Guzman Ong were found at around 2:30 p.m.

Ong, a member of Dos Masculados, was shot dead as he was getting out of his vehicle near the gate of their subdivision in Barangay Mahabang Parang in Angono town on Aug. 2.

Among the things found near Bucal Bridge on Palapala Governor’s Drive were two registration plates (AA0-2722) of Ong’s Toyota Hilux pickup, a pistol, a cartridge case for a .45 caliber pistol, a pair of reading glasses, Ong’s passport and several ATM (automated teller machine) and identification cards bearing the name of the victim and a certain Vassyline Kyrillis dela Cruz.

“The items were brought to the crime laboratory for examinations,” a prober told The STAR.

Investigators believe the recovery of Ong’s personal belongings could lead to the resolution of the case.

The assailant fled in Ong’s car, prompting authorities to initially theorize that carjacking was the motive for the killing.

Police said the victim could have known the gunman.
