BACNOTAN, La Union, Philippines – Four men were arrested for allegedly trying to transport dried marijuana with an estimated street value of P8 million in this town last Friday.

Town police chief Senior Inspector Fredilex Marron identified the suspects as Giovanny Gapasin, 25; Christopher Bangsil, 20; Ronnie Dagsa, 27, and Ranie Estepa, 32.

Marron said the suspects tried to avoid a checkpoint along the highway in Barangay Poblacion at around 2:30 a.m.

He said the suspects were in a van loaded with different kinds of fruit.

“We received reports that a van was on its way to deliver marijuana to Baguio City and Manila, so we put up the checkpoint,” Marron said.

Among those seized from the suspects were 98 marijuana rolls, each weighing one kilo, and 32 bricks, each weighing two kilos.
