Tornado destroys 30 houses in S. Cotabato

KORONADAL CITY , Philippines– At least 30 houses were destroyed and hundreds of trees toppled when a tornado ripped through several towns in South Cotabato Thursday night.

Nineteen houses were destroyed in Puroks Upper Valley, Riverside, North West and Urban Poor in Barangay Bo. 2 here.

Dads Bacalso, operations officer of the South Cotabato provincial disaster risk reduction office, said six houses were also damaged in Sto. Niño town.

Bacalso said she would visit the towns of Banga, Lake Sebu, Tupi and Tampakan, which were also hit by the tornado, to assess the extent of the damage.
