MANILA, Philippines - A 67-year-old man was killed Thursday early morning after he was hit by a speeding motorcycle while crossing a street in Marikina City.
Police identified the victim as Nicanor Angeles, of Kalbaryo Street, Barangay Calumpang, Marikina City.
Initial report showed that Angeles was doing his morning jog along FVR Road near Marcos Bridge in Barangay Barangka around 5:30 a.m. .
While crossing the road, Angeles did not notice the oncoming motorcycle, driven by Christian Crisostomo, 36, of San Mateo, Rizal, which hit the elderly man.
Upon impact, Angeles was thrown to the ground. Responding emergency rescue unit of the Marikina City said Angeles instantly died from his injuries.
Police immediately took Crisostomo under custody. He is now facing homicide charges.
