Dagupan cops launch new anti-crime program

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – The city police on Thursday launched the Intensified Mobile Patrolling to Arrest Crime Trends (IMPACT) to complement the Philippine National Police (PNP) Lambat Sibat’s “one time, big time” operation against crimes.

The campaign aims to deploy multiple police units in an area perceived to be a crime hotspot, according to city police chief Superintendent Christopher Abrahano.

“This is using all PNP approaches to abate crime and improve public perception. Since we cannot be in all places at all times, we use a systematic, deliberate and planned actions where resources from other areas will be channeled to another where the crime rate is high in a particular time,” Abrahano said.

He said project IMPACT has been operating since January and has reduced robberies in the city.

Statistics showed that most crimes committed in the city are physical injuries, theft, armed robbery and drugs.
