MANILA, Philippines - Fiver teenagers were arrested by the Pateros police early Thursday following the foiled shooting of another minor on Wednesday night.

Case investigator Police Officer 2 Randy Santos of the Pateros Police Criminal Investigation Division said the suspects -- ages 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18 -- were arrested at a house in Barangay Rizal in Makati City at about 3 a.m.

Seized from the suspects was the Armscor .38 caliber with serial number 69092, which police said was used in the foiled shooting of a 15-year-old boy at about 9:45 p.m. last Wednesday along E. Quiogue Street in Barangay Aguho, Pateros.

Police said the victim was walking with her girlfriend along the street when the suspects led by 18-year-old John Carlo Trembevilla, appeared.

Without warning, Trembevilla drew the caliber .38 revolver and fired at the victim, police added.

Trembevilla missed and then fled the scene along with the other suspects. The victim and his girlfriend then sought the help of patrolling barangay watchmen who chased the suspects but failed to catch them.

Santos said that prior to the foiled shooting, the victim mauled a brother of one of the suspects.

Santos said the arrested minors are now in the custody of the Pateros Social Welfare and Development Office as charges are now being prepared against them. - with Jona Espejo
