North Cotabato wants to ban PCSO's 'Bingo Milyonaryo'

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines  – The North Cotabato provincial board has urged local government units in the province to ban the operations of the “Bingo Milyonaryo” of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

Board members have passed a resolution urging all LGUs in the province to stop PCSO’s bingo operations in the province, citing as basis the Local Government Code.

“Even if Bingo Milyonaryo is legal, it can still destroy the moral fiber of society in the province,” said Cotabato 1st district board member Loreto Cabaya, one of the board members opposing the PCSO game.

Cabaya said Bingo Milyonaryo is a form of gambling that should not be allowed in the province.

The provincial board's action came after Infinity Corp. announced it will operate Bingo Milyonaryo in Kidapawan City, the provincial capital, under a franchise from the national government.

Benjamin Sison, speaking on behalf of the Infinity Corp., said their operation is legal and covered by a permit issued by the PCSO.
