State employee nabbed for bar shooting

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet , Philippines– A government employee was arrested after he reportedly shot and wounded two men in a bar in Bangued, Abra Wednesday night.

Junie Viste Balmaceda of the Department of Public Works and Highways office in Abra was allegedly drunk when he shot Lester Lacaden Bayongan and Rommel Cabanting who were having drinks at the MS Disco Bar. They were rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Police said prior to the shooting, Balmaceda and the victims reportedly exchanged insults.

Responding policemen arrested Balmaceda as he tried to escape after the shooting. A caliber .45 pistol was reportedly seized from the suspect.
