BUTUAN CITY, Philippines – A magnitude 4.9 earthquake jolted Butuan City at 8:32 p.m. Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The tremor’s epicenter was traced 11 kilometers northwest of Butuan City with a depth of 18 kilometers.
Phivolcs said the quake, of tectonic origin, was felt at Intensity 4 in this city, Intensity 3 in Camiguin Island, and Intensity 2 in Surigao City; Carrascal, Surigao del Sur; and General Luna, Surigao del Norte.
