SMI backs PPCRV drive for clean polls

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines -  Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI) recently provided support to the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) in its promotion of clean and peaceful May 13 polls.

The PPCRV safeguards voters’ right to suffrage and advocates clean, honest, orderly and peaceful elections.

Mark Williams, SMI general manager, and Tita de Villa, PPCRV chairperson, recently signed a memorandum of understanding where the mining firm pledged support to the poll watchdog.

Williams said SMI has demonstrated its commitment to PPCRV’s advocacies by educating its employees, contractors, and workers while stressing its non-partisan policy. He said SMI’s policy does not in any way infringe on its employees’ right to suffrage.

SMI is the government financial and technical contractor for the copper-gold project in Tampakan, South Cotabato.
