Camille Diola - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A video of a "professor" seen shoving and hitting a student while sputtering obscenities found on Monday a considerable number of viewers and sparked angry conversation on social media.

The YouTube clip uploaded on Sunday by a certain "Annamae Macayan" gathered over 20,000 views while site visitors condemned the enraged teacher who even attempted to hit the student with a plastic arm chair.

According to the video description, in incident occurred in Pasay's Montessori Professional College where the professor is said to be the dean.

"Grabe po talaga itong prof. na ito, dean pa po ng school. Paki-kalat na lang po ito para maturuan ng leksyon," the YouTube user said.

The video was also shared about 3,000 times on Facebook, the largest social networking site on the Internet, and collected threads of mostly irritated comments.

In the video, the female student attacked by the professor is seen crying and fighting back while other students tried to hold both of them back.

Some Facebook accounts also claimed that the said professor named Willy Sabado only used to teach in the college and had always been quick tempered.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Higher Education and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority said in a radio report on Tuesday that they will investigate whether the video is authentic and will then take necessary action.

National Union of Students of the Philippines also said in a Facebook post that school administrators must look into the incident and learn from it.

"This should remind members of the academe that grave abuse of authority and violence necessitate discipline," the student organization said.
