2 more Quezon jail escapees recaptured

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Two more inmates who bolted the Polillo jail in Quezon were recaptured in separate operations in Burdeous and Polillio towns before dawn yesterday.

Quezon police director Senior Superintendent Valeriano de Leon said murder suspect Melchor Bueges and rape suspect Santos Peñascosas were arrested in Barangay Sitio Tabok in San Rafael, Burdeos and Barangay Tamulaya in Polillo, respectively.

“All the seven inmates who bolted the Polillo jail were accounted for and they are back in their detention cell,” De Leon told The STAR.

Four of the inmates were recaptured Sunday night while another surrendered to Pollillo Mayor Jojie Versoza on Monday.

The inmates escaped by sawing off the grills of their detention cells last Thursday.
