1 killed, 3 wounded in ambush on Cagayan mayor's kin

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines  – One died on the spot while three other relatives of Tuguegarao Mayor Delfin Ting were critically wounded in an ambush in Barangay Simanu Norte on Sunday.

Isabela police director Senior Superintendent Franklin Mabanag identified the fatality as James Tangan and his wounded cousins as Darwin, Antonio and Richard, all surnamed Telan.

The victims were working in a basket shop when the alleged gunmen, led by a certain Junjun Tiogan, a resident of Barangay Catengtengan, sprayed them with bullets.

Isabela chief investigator Superintendent Vicente Valdez said personal vendetta and land dispute are possible motives for the ambush.
