Indian national robbed, murdered

Albuera, Leyte – A young Indian national who escaped death during the first robbery holdup attempt in 2007, in the end lost his life after he was robbed again past 1 p.m. Tuesday along the national highway in Barangay Talisayan, the local police said.

Police Inspector Catalino Landia, PNP chief, identified the victim as Jagder Kumar, 20, single, a collector of a lending company of an Indian national based in Ormoc City, and a resident of Barangay Doña Feliza Mejia, this city.

Responding police and case investigator SPO1 Jaime Catublas, told The Star the victim was in the said barangay to collect debts from several borrowers prior to the robbery-murder.

Catublas said that as the victim embarked from his new color blue Honda Bravo motorcycle, the unidentified culprits armed with .45 caliber pistols approached the victim and fired at him.

Witnesses told Catublas that they heard no arguments between the victim and the suspects but were stunned when one of the two suspects shot the victim at close range in his back. The witnesses told police that the victim pulled out his wallet and was about to hand this to the suspects when he was shot in the back twice killing him instantly.     – Roberto Dejon
