Mango plantation to rise in Bagac, Bataan

-
BAGAC, Bataan — Some 200,000 mango trees with rows of forest trees in between would be planted in the seaside village of Paysawan, an agri-business corporation announced recently.

Officials from Good Harvest said they are developing 1,000 hectares of rolling lands in Paysawan where the mangoes will be planted.

Josie Pillarina, sales director of Good Harvest, said company is inviting investors and buyers to adopt and own mango trees in its huge plantation, where some 200 hectares were already planted with 30,000 forest and fruit trees with 12,000 mango trees of the Guimaras variety.

She added that owning trees in the plantationa is a lifetime investment that contributes to a robust economy and helps solve the unemployment problem in the country.

For an investment of P35,800 for a one-year-old mango seedling, Pillarina projects an income of P30,000 per tree every harvest season.

Mango trees nurtured by Good Harvest last for more than 100 years and start bearing fruits after five years. Ric Sapnu
