Marcos loyalists set vigil at SC

Jun Elias - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Supporters of the Marcos family are scheduled to hold a vigil in front of the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday to pray for the speedy resolution of the election protest filed by former senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. against Vice President Leni Robredo, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos said yesterday.

“Some loyalists will be going there to pray and to help us seek speedy resolution of my brother’s protest because it seems that the process is being delayed,” Imee said as she joined the bicentennial celebration of Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

Ilocos Norte is also celebrating its bicentennial since the two Ilocos provinces were separated on Feb. 2, 1818.

She said some of the loyalists who would join the prayer vigil would come from Sarrat and Batac in Ilocos Norte.

Imee said she is hopeful that by Tuesday, the Presidential Electoral Tribunal will open the ballot boxes to recount the votes from the provinces of Camarines Sur, Negros Oriental and Iloilo.

Robredo beat Marcos by 263,473 votes during the May 2016 elections.
