NCRPO records only 1 crime during SONA
MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) recorded only one crime on the day President Duterte delivered his State of the Nation Address (SONA), an official said yesterday.
From 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on July 25, the Regional Tactical Operations Center recorded a case of theft in Quezon City, acting NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde said in a statement.
Police officers from arrested Eraño Elcano and recovered a toolbox and crocodile jack he reportedly stole from Kevin Mameta of Barangay Bungad.
“For the first time in history we recorded no incident of violence during the first SONA of President Duterte. We attribute this success to the cooperation of all stakeholders involved. Cause-oriented groups and other rallyists voluntarily dispersed after the conclusion of the SONA. I personally debriefed the President and he was very pleased with the result,” Albayalde said.
He lauded the 6,873 police officers who secured the SONA and the others who went on patrol and implemented the anti-illegal drug operation plans Tokhang and Double Barrel.
Albayalde vowed that the NCRPO “will change Metro Manila” into a “more peaceful and safer place to live, work and do business.”
