10 hurt as jeepney hits post in Mandaluyong

Non Alquitran - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – A flat tire sent a passenger jeepney crashing into a cement post at a gasoline station in Mandaluyong City Monday, injuring 10 of the jeepney’s passengers.

Maricar Macaraeg remains confined for injuries she sustained in her left leg while her fellow passengers were sent home after being treated for minor injuries.

Jeepney driver Foxly Dayag, 53, surrendered to police.

Senior Police Officer 2 Richard Dumicassaid Dayag was driving his jeepney along Shaw Boulevard when its right front wheel exploded at about 11:30 p.m. Monday.

Dayag tried to step on the brakes but the jeepney continued moving forward because the road sloped downward.

The passengers were thrown against each other when the vehicle hit a lamppost at the gas station.
