All Taguig public schools now have computer labs

MANILA, Philippines - All of Taguig City’s 34 public schools now have computer laboratories after the installation of laboratories was completed in seven of the schools yesterday.

Mayor Lani Cayetano, who initiated the program in 2012, expressed confidence that graduates of the city’s public schools will later not find it difficult to get jobs in the information technology (IT) sector, especially at the Bonifacio Global City – the city’s technohub.

She said that with Ayala Land developing the 120-hectare Food Terminal Inc. property into the next BGC, this means hundreds of thousands of IT jobs.

Cayetano said the air-conditioned laboratories are equipped with computers, projectors and other equipment.

The IT programs being offered by the city to students include Web design, personal computer operations, hardware troubleshooting, computer programming, digital arts, animation, photoshop, graphics design, Web programming and digital movie making.

The city government teamed up with Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) to set up the laboratories.

According to Cayetano, CAL has been the partner of numerous private schools starting up a competitive IT education program.
