OWWA to aid family of OFW slain in Libya

MANILA, Philippines - The family of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) killed in a bombing in Zawiya town in northeastern Libya will receive financial help from the government, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said yesterday.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, which is under DOLE, will repatriate the remains of Jupiter Adrias, 31, and bring his body to Roxas City in Capiz, Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said.

Adrias, who was employed at Al Bareeq Cleaning, was the lone Filipino fatality in the bombing. Three other OFWs were wounded in the rocket attack.

Baldoz said all OWWA members are entitled to monetary benefits ranging from health care, disability and death benefits, scholarships and financial assistance for education and training, workers’ assistance and on-site services, and social services and family welfare assistance.
