Ex-tabloid columnist killed

MANILA, Philippines - A former tabloid columnist was shot dead in Port Area, Manila on Monday.

Danilo Onanad, 62, was sitting outside his house in Baseco Compound when a man approached him and shot him twice, Senior Police Officer 2 Richard Escarlan said.

Onanad’s killer remains unidentified, Manila Police District homicide section chief Inspector Steve Casimiro said. He added that they are checking whether Onanad’s death was work-related.
