American exec uses GPS to recover cell phone

MANILA, Philippines - Police officers recovered Friday an American executive’s iPhone 4S, which was lost on March 31, through its global positioning system (GPS) device.

John Knudson’s phone was recovered in the house of taxi driver Valerie Sadiwa in a slum in Barangay 176, Bagong Silang Caloocan City. Sadiwa was the one who brought Knudson and his girlfriend home in Taguig from Manila Ocean Park last month.

A report from the Southern Police District (SPD), obtained by The STAR, read that Knudson sought the help of the police on April 7 after he was able to track down the location of his phone through its GPS device.

After continuously monitoring the phone, Knudson on April 25 informed SPD’s investigation chief Superintendent Romeo Juan Macapaz “that his iPhone was activated on the same location as he previously reported.”

Police officers approached Sadiwa, who turned over Knudson’s phone.
