Court of Appeals clears Asiatique exec in P6.6-billion estafa case

MANILA, Philippines - The Court of Appeals (CA) has cleared one of the four co-accused of Globe Asiatique Realty Holdings Corp. (GA) president Delfin Lee in the syndicate estafa case involving allegedly anomalous P6.6-billion housing projects in Pampanga through loans from Pag-IBIG Fund (Home Development Mutual Fund).

In a 34-page decision, the CA’s special 10th Division partially granted the petition for review of Christina Sagun, GA documentation head, questioning the resolution of the Department of Justice (DOJ) including her in the charge sheet.

The CA held that the DOJ erred in indicting her for the non-bailable offense of syndicated estafa, citing lack of ample evidence against her presented during preliminary investigation.
