Porsche-driving clerk shows up at BOC

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines -  A Bureau of Customs (BOC) employee – caught on video driving a Porsche along the South Luzon Expressway and accused of beating up and shooting at a 20-year-old student on Jan. 21 – reported to Customs Commissioner Rufino Biazon’s office yesterday morning after being absent since Jan. 25.

Biazon said Paulino Elevado will be transferred from the Port of Manila to the BOC’s human resources department “to do actual messengerial and clerical work while the investigation is ongoing.”

Biazon said the BOC clerk, upon the advice of lawyer Jeff Sarate, opted to remain silent. Elevado denied owning the Porsche he was seen driving. He said that for the last 10 years, he has been in the buy and sell business.

He said he reported for work because of Biazon’s ultimatum.
