MMDA lifts 'coding' scheme for 2 holidays

MANILA, Philippines - The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or the “number coding” scheme will be lifted across Metro Manila for tomorrow and Tuesday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.

According to the MMDA, the UVVRP is lifted during weekends and during public holidays. Malacañang earlier declared Aug. 29 and 30 as holidays to mark National Heroes’ Day and Eid’l Fitr, the festival marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, respectively.

Under the UVVRP, vehicles with license numbers ending in 1 and 2 are not allowed on EDSA and on the major streets of Metro Manila on Mondays and those with license numbers ending in 3 and 4 on Tuesdays.
