MANILA, Philippines - A 47-year-old bus driver was shot twice in the head by one of his passengers in Malabon City yesterday morning.
Renato Quejaro, driver of Cher Transport bus (TYW-764) and a resident of Laguna, was fighting for his life as of press time yesterday at the Our Lady of Fatima Hospital’s intensive care unit, according to hospital staff Joel Tulawan.
Malabon City deputy chief Superintendent Rio Gatacilo said Quejaro was turning at the corner of Gov. Pascual and Araneta Avenues in Barangay Potrero when a passenger sitting right behind him told him to stop.
As the passenger stood up, he pulled a handgun and shot Quejaro twice without warning.
Bus conductor Nelson Mata, 37, told police that Quejaro’s killer was around 40 to 45 years old and wearing a black jacket, short pants, and a baseball cap. The attacker alighted from the bus and fled on foot toward Araneta Avenue.
Mata said the gunman boarded the bus in Cubao, Quezon City and told him that he will get off on Letre Road in Malabon City.
Gatacilo said local police recovered two shells for a .45 caliber pistol inside the passenger bus. He said they were still investigating the motive in the gangland-style slay try on Quejaro.
