NBI seizes P8-million fake shampoo, swimwear

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation seized at least P8 million worth of fake hair products and swimwear in Pasay City and Manila.

In a report, NBI Intellectual Property Rights Division supervising agent Rodolfo Ignacio Jr. said they seized 6,153 pieces of fake Speedo swimwear, with an estimated value of P6 million, when they raided stalls at the Baclaran LRT Shopping Mall and a room at the YS Building, both in Pasay City. They are reportedly owned by Mary Jane Lim and Jhemer Tan.

The NBI also raided stalls at the Baclaran Terminal Plaza II and the Sunnyline Shopping Center in Pasay City. Mary Rose Serrano and Ke Quing Chi face charges in connection with the raid.

In Manila, the NBI seized 5,898 fake Procter and Gamble shampoos and conditioners, worth more than P2 million, from stalls at the New Divisoria Mall and various establishments in Binondo and Tondo.

These fake products bore the Head and Shoulders, Pantene, Olay and Rejoice labels.   – Sandy Araneta
