Venezuelan ambassador hurt in traffic mishap

-

MANILA, Philippines - Venezuelan Ambassador Manuel Perez Iturbe was “slightly hurt” when his car smashed into a steel fence along EDSA’s southbound lane in Magallanes, Makati City then rolled over at past midnight yesterday.

Senior Police Officer 2 Miguel Descalzo of the city’s traffic police said Iturbe was driving his BMW 320i along Edsa from Ayala Avenue when another vehicle cut in front of him, prompting him to veer towards the right.

Descalzo said Iturbe lost control of the steering wheel and hit the steel fence of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

“The BMW flipped and fell with its right side down on the road pavement,” Descalzo said.

Descalzo said Iturbe, who sustained minor injuries, got out of his “heavily damaged” car then took a taxi home. He said Iturbe’s driver, Edmundo Vinoya, arrived at the scene of the accident later. – Jose Rodel Clapano
