MANILA, Philippines - Police nabbed Monday night seven persons allegedly responsible for indiscriminately throwing rocks on passing vehicles at the underpass of Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo, Manila which reportedly endangers the lives of motorists.
“Such brazen act put in peril the safety of motorists, especially during the night when there is poor visibility in the streets,” Sta. Cruz police station chief Superintendent Romulo Sapitula said, who immediately acted on the complaint of one of the motorists who almost met an accident when he tried to avoid a rock dropped from the top of the underpass Monday night.
Deputy station commander Chief Inspector Robert Domingo, together with his men, nabbed seven men on top of the underpass along C.M. Recto Avenue who were pointed to by witnesses as the perpetrators of rock-throwing mayhem on passing vehicles.
Upon their arrest, Dennis Debalucos, 26; Winnie Lapinid, 35; Benjamin Antones, 42; Eliazar Palubon, 23; Ryan Villador, 26; Rolando Calaparo, 30; and Reden Laron, 32; were found positive for alcohol intake.
The suspects admitted throwing rocks on passing vehicles along the underpass “for thrill,” according to Domingo.
Sapitula lectured the suspects on the dangers of their thrill, even as charges of vagrancy were filed against them.
