Road rage kills 1 in QC

A motorist shot a bus driver who cut in front of him along EDSA yesterday morning.

Ramilo Vargas, 42, died at 6:05 a.m. while undergoing treatment at the East Avenue Medical Center for gunshot wounds in the left cheek and left upper arm.

The man who shot Vargas remains unidentified as he quickly drove away in his vehicle, with license plate TXF-700.

Bus conductor Eligio Cesar, Vargas was driving a Jayross Lucky Seven Tours bus (UPF-648) bound for Baclaran when he cut into the lane occupied by the suspect as they loaded passengers at the corner of EDSA and Kamuning Road.

This apparently irked the suspect, who followed the bus up to the corner of Ermin Garcia street, in front of Ramon Magsaysay High School. At this point, the suspect drove up to left side of the bus and shot Vargas.

The incident caused a 30-minute traffic jam on the southbound lane of EDSA.

Cesar said the car driven by the suspect appeared to be a black Nissan Sentra. However, Police Officer 2 said Land Transportation Office records showed the license plates carried by the vehicle were registered to a green Mazda vehicle.     Reinir Padua
