No less than President Arroyo and South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun will attend the Dec. 15 opening of the complex, which would make Quezon City the hub of IT training in the country.
Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has directed departments at City Hall, particularly the engineering and planning office to ensure the smooth opening of the complex next month.
Dr. Manuel Alba, senior adviser to the mayor, said the South Korean government considers the IT project as a key symbol of diplomatic ties between the Philippines and Republic of Korea.
The center will be run by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
With the expected arrival of the South Korean leader, Belmonte directed the police and the Parks Development and Administration Office to conduct ocular inspections to ensure the site would be ready for the inauguration.
Alba said they have been informed that South Korean computer experts, who will conduct the training, as well as equipment for the IT center, will be arriving soon.
Belmonte said the development of the IT complex in the Novaliches district will provide Quezon City residents the skills needed by IT centers that have started moving into growth areas of the city.
