NPDO director Chief Superintendent Marcelino Franco Jr. cited Chief Inspector Rafael Santiago Jr., SPO4s Ernesto Reyes and Angelito Crucillo, chief and members, respectively, of the District Intelligence and Investigation Division (DIID) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) operatives Senior Inspector Carlos Dilag, Inspector Rodrigo Soriano and PO1 Ruben Piedad for foiling the bomb try which could have resulted in many killed or injured. They were honored under the Kuya Ko 2 Oplan Honor Roll program of the Philippine National Police.
The awardees were cited for conducting a joint operation which prevented an alleged planned bombing of a political rally of the Liberal Party ticket then in progress around midnight of May 6 in Morning Breeze Subdivision, Caloocan City. The police officers personally received their plaques of commendation from Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina and National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Ricardo de Leon during the "Sagot Ko Yan" program over radio dzMM.
Franco said the six Caloocan police awardees join the more than 50 cops already feted for extraordinary honesty, integrity and dedication beyond the call of duty in April this year.
The Kuya Ko 2 Honor Roll program, a pet project of the NCRPO, aims to recognize beat patrollers who have displayed courage, honesty and integrity as well as honor, discipline and excellence and traits characteristic of an older brother (Kuya) ready and willing to protect any member of his family, the community where he pounds the beat.
