Four persons, including a five-year-old girl, were hurt when a security guard accidentally dropped his shotgun at a residential compound in Makati City.

Senior Police Officer 1 Lewelie Cristobal said Robert Macaraig, 33, was shot in the right chest; Camille Millonte, 16, right leg; Jeannette Anne Macaraig, 5, right cheek; and Joel Penofeil, 21, in the left arm. All are residents of Guadalupe Bliss Compound, Barangay Cembo, Makati City.

Cristobal said the girl underwent surgery last Wednesday night to remove the fragment stuck in her cheek. She is currently confined at the Ospital ng Maynila.

The suspect was identified Marlon Bacaron, 28, security guard of FlagStar and currently residing in Barangay San Isidro, Muzon, Tagaytay, Rizal province.

Initial investigation disclosed the incident took place at around 6:30 p.m. Millonte was talking to Penofeil outside her house at 1515 Guadalupe Bliss 3 while the girl was walking toward them when the shot went off.

The suspect, allegedly pretending innocence, approached them and asked where the gunfire came from. A relative of the girl rushed to the scene and saw her crying.

He saw blood on her cheek. The other victims also realized that they were injured and went to seek medical treatment.

The suspect was apprehended and brought to the Makati City police station. —Evelyn Macairan
