Marikina tracks down drug ring men

Marikina City Mayor Maria Lourdes Fernando ordered a crackdown yesterday against remnants of a city-based drug syndicate whose leader was killed in a shootout Sunday in San Mateo, Rizal.

Fernando issued her directive following the recovery of pieces of papers from the slain Wilfredo Loilo, alias Boy Bicol, containing names of his couriers, clients or patrons and the quantity of shabu delivered to them.

Loilo was listed as number one at the Marikina City police order-of-battle on drug personalities.

"Our campaign against remnants of the slain drug dealer is a continuing effort," said Fernando while waving the list before the media.

According to Fernando, the local police are presently sifting through pieces of papers recovered from Loilo’s. The police sought the help of Loilo’s cohort, Carlos de la Cruz, in identifying them and in their possible arrest.

Loilo was killed Sunday when he tried to shoot it out with police raiders who cornered him in his house at Sitio Dulangan, Barangay Gulod Malaya in San Mateo, Rizal.

De la Cruz, who was listed as number eight in the police order of battle, was arrested after a brief chase. He denied selling drugs but admitted knowing Loilo.

On Monday, De la Cruz promised to cooperate on the police probe against Loilo-headed drug syndicate. – Non Alquitran
