DILG body clears Alit

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Fact Finding Committee created by Secretary Joey Lina to investigate alleged issues against Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) head Chief Superintendent Arturo Alit has recommended the immediate closure and termination of the case due to lack of sufficient evidence to support the allegations.

On the issue of Alit’s falsification of his personal data sheet, particularly the item on his educational attainment, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has released a certificate that he graduated in 1984 with an A.B. Political Science degree from Magsaysay Memorial Colleges, Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat, with Special Order No (8) R-XII 160-147, s. 1986, dated March 18, 1986.

The allegations made by Superintendent Renato Gacutan regarding Alit’s involvement in giving VIP treatment and the illegal release of Chinese businesswoman Yu Yuk Lai was also cleared due to Gacutan’s failure to submit evidence to the investigating body to substantiate his allegations.
