Robbers take P1-M from businessman in Mandaluyong

Motorcycle-riding robbers struck anew in Mandaluyong City Tuesday, taking close to P1 million from a businessman.

An irate Superintendent Jose Gentiles, Mandaluyong City police chief, immediately ordered intensified foot patrols along busy streets of the city to prevent further occurrences of robbery.

Gentiles warned the four city police precinct commanders of relief should they fail to curb robbery incidents in their jurisdictions.

The victim, Gener Villegas, a resident of 77 A. Romero St., Barangay Poblacion, had withdrawn P940,000 from the PCI Bank-Kalentong branch at 11:30 a.m. to invest on a business venture.

On his way home onboard his silver Kia Pregio van along Harapin ng Bukas street, three Yamaha sports bikes suddenly appeared in front of his car and cut his path, prompting him to step on the brakes.

Two of the bikes each had one rider, the third had two suspects riding tandem. One of the suspects alighted and approached Villegas’ car, pulled out a handgun and demanded that he turn- over the money.

Before fleeing, the suspects also took his cellular phone worth P6,000, preventing him from calling for police assistance. – Non Alquitran
