Just our type

MANILA, Philippines - At YStyle, we’re always jonesing to work with new talent, so this month’s logo is sent to you by Ateneo college student Isai Araneta. To see more of her work, visit behance.net/isaiaraneta.

YSTYLE: Which projects do you feel you are most known for, or received a lot of exposure?

ISAI ARANETA: I’d like to think that I’m getting a lot of exposure from my illustrations and my typography. I’m still exploring what style fits me best, but right now I’m just having fun experimenting with my art.

When you hear YStyle, what kind of images or ideas does your mind conjure up?

When I hear YStyle, I immediately think of fresh ideas, the newest trends, and interesting places to be in the metro.

What was your concept for the new YStyle logo?

I’ve always been fascinated by underwater life; it’s something we’ve barely explored. For this month’s logo, I decided to bring a little bit of vibrancy from the bland weather for the past few weeks. I illustrated exotic-looking jellyfish to show my perspective on what’s underneath the depths of the sea.

Were you listening to music while you were designing it? What song? On
purpose or on shuffle?

I was listening to a lot of song remixes from RAC and the newest album by Robby Hunter Band when I made the logo.

Who/what inspires your art?

Music is something that heavily influences my mood and my work. My day would feel incomplete if I don’t spend a few hours just listening to music. I’m also really inspired by films because I’m in love with cinematography; it’s the first thing that captures my interest when I watch movies.

Who/what inspires your personal fashion sense?

I don’t pay much attention to my personal fashion sense that much anymore. I just like mixing up basics with a few trendy pieces. Whether I am on-the-go, or sitting in front of my laptop screen for hours on end, I always have to be in something comfortable.

More than half the year is over. How did you did you spend it?

I spent half the year trying to focus more on my personal projects and it has led me to meeting and working with amazing artists and entrepreneurs. When I’m not working, I usually go on food trips with my boyfriend. I’m really looking forward to the rest of the year actually!

I’m excited for the coming weeks because I have a few interesting branding projects keeping me busy. I’m also working with my friends at SR Photography, our photography and design production.
