Versatile fashion fit for the Philippine season

MANILA, Philippines - The Mega Young Designers Competition is becoming more intense as the weaker designers are slowly weeded out.

The third challenge for the remaining 13 designers this season is to create a practical yet stylish piece that can be used for the wet and dry season of the country.

The two consistent top performers — Mara Chua and Ched Dalogaog — did not make it to the top three this time around. Robin Gundran and Kirby Cruz, who also won previous challenges, just made it to a safe pass. The top three designers all landed the spots for the first time.

Oz Go has always played safe throughout the competition, but his clean-cut black and white collared shirt and skirt, styled with studded boots and white oversized goggles, finally garnered him one of the top spots. Meanwhile Erica Panlilio designed an elegant and crisp white dress under a jacket reminiscent of the Chanel aesthetic. Lastly, Renan Pacson’s play on fabrics from the hooded jacket to the texture of the skirt was an immediate stunner. He was able to present an aesthetic different from the look of the other designers.

With only 10 contenders left, who will be the last designer standing? The finalists will soon be revealed in the next episodes of the Mega Young Designers Competition 2012.

Keep watching the Mega Young Designers Competition 2012 every Saturday, 7 p.m. on ETC, with replays every Sunday at 10 am.
