Buffet champ!

Feed on this: A YS reader gets her buffet fix.

MANILA, Philippines - Last week, we asked you “how you eat your buffet.” Our lucky reader, Elaine Serranilla, caught our attention with her buffet SOPs. For that, she wins a mouth-watering dinner buffet for two at Makati Shangri-la’s Circles Event Cafe. Happy eating!

Elaine’s buffet must: I start off by checking out all food stations first then I definitely get sushi and sashimi (tuna and salmon) first with miso soup or sukiyaki. My second plate would be some vegetable appetizer like pickled veggies or Korean green vegetable dish, with a bit of noodles, meat and seafood items. Third round is a bit more seafood (since they’re my favorite) plus a bit more sashimi (another big favorite of mine). If there is a smokeless grill, I’ll definitely get US beef belly, salmon skin/head, squid or cuttlefish and my favorite veggies: corn, mushrooms and asparagus/bacon, for grilling. Fourth round is dessert time — usually a few pieces of watermelon, mangoes and pineapple, choco fondue with marshmallow and bananas and mango sago (if there is). I always, and I mean always, get seconds and thirds of my dessert! I’m a sucker for sweets.
