Since then, many bands have come and gone, some have even attained nationwide acclaim and success, but Admit One Productions (as the group of organizers now call themselves) have consistently held at least one show (for a time, even two) every month, twelve months a year, for the past five years. Indeed, over a hundred local talents have graced the Admit One stage since its first-ever show, some hailing from as far as Cebu, Baguio and Cagayan de Oro, earning Admit One the reputation of being one of the few shows that truly showcased honest, original live local music, long before the so-called resurgence of the Pinoy band scene that we are experiencing today.
Back when acoustic artists and R&B acts were all the rage, Admit One had already been drawing sizable crowds of genuine music enthusiasts to its monthly shows. To them, the band scene had never been over to begin with. This month, Admit One celebrates its fifth year of underscoring the creativity of the Filipino musician as it holds its anniversary show tonight, November 10, 2006, at Elbow Room, Metrowalk, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Lined up to perform are Urbandub, Kjwan, Chicosci, Happy Meals, Dongabay, Imago, Hale, Cynthia Alexander, Radioactive Sago Project, Dicta License, Cambio, Pedicab, Sugarfree, Sandwich and The Dawn. Renowned percussion ensemble Brigada will open the festivities at 7p.m., along with the Zips Dancers. And then on Saturday, Nov. 18, a reunion of sorts will occur, as all the original core Admit One bands are set to take the stage at SaGuijo Café in Makati City, including Sugar Free, Cambio, Happy Meals, Dicta License, and a rare, one-night-only comeback by Twisted Halo and Fatal Posporos.
