MANILA, Philippines - Global travel search engine Skyscanner named Kalibo in Aklan as an emerging destination for Singaporeans.

According to their data, Kalibo ranks third, with 66 percent average score.

"Outbound destinations from Singapore that have experienced the greatest increase in flight searches over the past three years include off the beaten track destinations centered in Asia, such as Phu Quoc (Vietnam), Paro (Bhutan), Kalibo (Philippines), Shenyang (China) and Sapporo (Japan),” Pamela Knaggs, Marketing Manager of Skyscanner Singapore and Malaysia said in their release.

Knaggs added that the trend goes to show that  Singaporeans are looking for more cultural immersion and different experiences.

Kalibo, with its annual Ati-Atihan Festival in January, lush environment and laidback culture that boasts of its piña weaving industry caters perfectly to the tourists' needs.
