MANILA, Philippines - The San Agustin Church Museum, which reopened last Nov. 8, is now home to thousand of new religious artifacts, art relics and collections from the Augustinians way back in the 16th century. Religious relics made of solid gold, ivory and silver are among the precious displays, including vestments made of real 24k gold threads which were used by friars in the early days. Bejeweled relics studded with Pink diamonds (like that of Imelda’s) are on display, as well as other unique art collections donated by patrons Don Luis Araneta Sr., the father of Greggy Araneta.
An educational tour of the museum takes about two-and-a-half hours to complete given the vast two-story exhibit depicting the lives and loves of Augustinian friars — that of love for mission, prayer, songs, history, wisdom and science.
