MANILA, Philippines - For Trucco’s spring-summer collection, the looks were clearly inspired by a growing garden. Earthen tones in burnt sienna, fawn and caramel mimic the freshly-tilled ground. Flora and fauna find themselves represented in vivid vermilion and ruby as well as rich olive and jade hues.
The collection is as well traveled as summer clothes ought to be: Linen tunics, knit wrap dresses, khaki trousers and stretch pencil skirts are comfy, light and easy to wear — and can easily transition from the cooler plains of, say, Brazil (still experiencing a cold front) to the scorching streets of Manila.
Referencing Asia (scarlet silks and warm linen tunics play up the contrast in textures) and the wild west (western elements are plentiful, like belts in tooled and braided leather), the current crop of clothes are sprinkled with the summer season’s greatest hits: rich colors that play up beautifully in photographs and easy silhouettes that make for go-anywhere dressing. — Bea J.
