Coca-Cola teams up with IPTL as title sponsor

MANILA, Philippines - The Micromax Indian Aces finished on top of the rankings in the first leg of the Coca-Cola International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) after beating the Manila Mavericks, DBS Singapore Slammers, and UAE Royals for three straight wins.

The star-studded teams were recently in Manila for IPTL’s inaugural season, which crossed four countries in Asia — the Philippines, Singapore, India, and finally the United Arab Emirates for the grand finale — from Nov. 28 to Dec. 13 in a fast-paced and more exciting format that has never been seen before.

IPTL featured the best current and past tennis stars, including 21 Grand Slam Champions and 14 current and former World Number Ones. These include Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Ana Ivanovic, Andre Agassi, Treat Huey, Caroline Wozniacki and others playing for four franchises.

As title sponsor Coca-Cola hosted a series of interesting initiatives to engage with tennis fans across the globe. In its Manila leg, activities included a tennis coaching clinic with top former and current tennis players, nominations for Coin Toss Boys/Girls to participate in the tournament, motivational talk by a former legend, meet and greet sessions with top ranked players, and an online tieup with McDonald’s to win tickets to watch the matches.

Jasmin Vinculado, marketing director of Coca-Cola Philippines, said, “This tennis tournament will further catalyze our efforts to promote active healthy living especially among the youth. We believe that active lifestyles lead to happier lives.”
